Oh my... our house looks as if Toys R Us had an explosion and we were hit with the shrapnel! We are now Barbie Central! We have mermaids, princesses, cool girls and uber cool girls - Barbie is everywhere! I think the Barbie count is somewhere around 15 now... we have a horse (that walks), a corvette, a water slide (for the mermaids), and a vespa!
Jon has been keeping all of his treasures stashed away in his room (thankfully) but you can hear the sounds of Tek Decks being flipped around his desk... and the 9 "skate parky" things he got!
Our Christmas eve was very nice. We went to church, and Molly sang in the chior...
my photo quality from inside the church is not too great... the lighting was not the best for my camera. I had to edit the red eyes from almost every child in this shot... the original made them look like a chior of demon children!
One point in the service Jon had to be a part of the program as well.. he was none to excited about it at all!
After church, we came back to our house for chilli & presents! I made a huge pot of chilli and Jane brought biscuits, olives, and stuffed celery. Steve and Kim brought pies - a yummy Christmas peppermint, chocolate and whipped cream concoction. So you can say we had plenty to eat.
Then the serious work of opening presents got started!
With every package Miss Molly opened she'd squeal with delight! Too much fun! That is what it's all about I guess!
just a few of the squeal worthy toys she recieved! When all of our company headed home, it was near 11pm. We got Molly into her pajammas and were trying to talk her into bed - she went into the bathroom, to brush her teeth. When she hadn't emerged after a few minutes, I went looking for her, with my camera in tow.
Christmas morning came and in a blur of stockings and shouts of glee (can you believe that Santa got Molly everything she asked for?) we ate some breakfast and got ourselves together to head to Lincoln. Christmas dinner was very good! The traditional fare, with no left overs to worry about! How can you beat that? I didn't take to many photos on Christmas day. Not any that were too good any way...
Here's one of Molly's styling, new outfit courtesy of Santa!
Then we found the Wii! Wii had soooo much fun! Wii will probablly end up with a Wii fairly soon!
Wii hope everyone had a FABULOUS Christmas too!
This is Edgar... he is a bit stinky - bushy too - but hey, it's cold outside! He is in definite need of a bath!
As you can tell, bath time is not one of his most favorite things! He stretches his body out as far as he can as not to get the front half of his body wet!
Seriously Edgar... some day you will learn that ploys like the stretching maneuver just doesn't work... embrace the warm water and enjoy the scrubbing.... ahhhhhh...
Oh no! The child with the dreaded towel! I know you just want to shake all the water off all over my kitchen. Please refrain yourself!
after a bit of blow drying, we have a nice, strawberry scented (thanks to Molly's creme rinse) dog, all ready for Christmas!
Tonight, Christmas eve, we will celebrate with our immediate family... opening gifts... then Santa will come. Tomorrow will be spent in Lincoln, enjoying Christmas dinner with the rest of Ken's family. We are looking forward to it!
All of us, here, are wishing all of you, there, A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I am seriously lacking in the baking department... to say that Ken is teasing me would be an understatement... "Hmmm... was it the oven? Oh wait a minute... you put it in the bread machine... maybe it's you!" Personally, I don't think it tastes too bad... just looks odd.
If any one has a good recipe for a bread machine that They'd like to share, please comment or email me - PLEASE!

On a side note... today is Kim's birthday! Happy Birthday Kim! Hope you have the bestest day ever - and that you are feeling better! LOVE YOU!
In case you didn't know... I am not a Betty Crocker. I can cook. I just can bake worth a darn. Well in my defense, it probably doesn't help that our oven is lacking ooomph and only bakes what and when it wants to. Since Molly has gone to this corn & soy free diet I thought I'd make a loaf of bread for her. I dusted off the old bread machine and got busy! I thought it'd be easy... buy a mix, add water... "set it and forget it!" and in 3 hours... yummy bread! But that isn't how it went at all... all the mixes I could find contained either corn products, or soy or both. So being the resourceful kind of person I am I turned to my bag of stone ground wheat flour and followed the recipe it had printed on the back. 3 packs of yeast, 1/2 warm water, 2-1/4 cups water, 2 TBS butter, 1/4 cup sugar, 8 cups flour, and a few other forgettable items. Instead of following all the instructions I just dumped it all into my handy dandy bread machine... now I give you what Jon has dubbed "Space Bread" because just a tiny little bit will fill up a TON of empty space in your tummy!
please note that this zip-lock bag is very special. It is not your standard everyday size. It is a 2 gallon bag! Perfect for bricks of bread!
I have been scrapping too, I will share some work, on a post, this weekend. Right now I am worrying about how I will be getting to work in the morning... it seems to be raining ice! If you need some scrapping inspiration until then, visit kindredcreations.com. Tell them I sent you!
Instead of just singing songs this year, Molly's school put on a bit of a production. They actually acted out the story of "the littlest Christmas Tree". The children all had parts... Fir Trees, Bunnies, Red Birds, People looking for trees, or Stars. Molly was a Star...
Hello stars!
find those you love and wave like crazy!
After a great start, it must have started to get a bit boring for some of the kids... Molly included...
can you spot her??
not quite as excited to be a part of it all
"What? You want me to sing when I am up here?"
hmmmm maybe this is just a bit too long???
Is it over yet???
Well this year she did better than last! And she wasn't the only one that acted out. One little boy was jumping up & down on the stairs and making silly faces through out the show... another little girl wasn't feeling well so she just sat down. She wasn't even the first to show her underwear - please note the above photo! All & all it was a great performance!
We did have one melt down - She was given a candy cane and we had to give it back... I was NOT the greatest mommy at that moment! I really hope this gets easier!
Imagine being five... and you've just been told you can no longer have chicken nuggets...
no more marshmallows... hot dog buns... yogurt...
no more lunchables... or kids cuisine...
most store bought cookies are out of the question... no cakes or anything with baking powder...
no more sweet treats that you are used to... no more fruit snacks... no more strawberry syrup...
Halloween has lost a bit of its shine... Birthdays may be altered for awhile...
one of your saddest moments will be....
when you notice that Santa didn't offer you a candy cane... mommy had told his elf that you have an allergy... very sad indeed...
On the up side... we have had a reduction of soy & corn in Molly's diet for the past few days, and we are already spotting a reduction in the iching!
so how can my beautiful little girl be allergic to corn??? Isn't a prerequisite for anyone who lives in this state to not only like corn... but have a passion for the yellow grain??
Allergic to Edgar... no problem... keep them a safe distance from each other... easy peasy...
The allergy to rye... no biggy... when was the last time you had a Ruben??? Pecans... we already have a nut free (I hear the comments from you guys now) home.
The tough ones are SOYBEAN & CORN! EGADS! How do you handle that? Everything has either or both of those ingredients! I love her doctor's comment "Good luck with this one mom!"
Well, you will have to excuse me while I go and try to find something for my child to eat - maybe a broccoli burger without a bun! :)
only a few weeks left until Christmas! Egads! I am so not ready - as I sit here in front of a stack of Christmas cards that are to be mailed tomorrow.
I used to be a decent package wrapper...not so anymore! Are toy companies purposely making boxes odd shaped to make parents (and Santa) use more & more wrapping paper to cover all the weird corners & angles the boxes have now?
I feel bad for Miss Molly... she is the only one in our house that doesn't hide from my camera.
Sometimes I can get lucky and catch other members of our family too
I just can't press my luck or I get hands in front of faces or...
Even Edgar gives me trouble when my camera comes out
so I am happy to have a model that is so eager and willing to be front of my lens...
and it sure helps that my lens loves her too!
It has really been harder this year, with the state of our economy. I think we are all trying to keep Christmas reasonable. The video below really gives us more to think about...
